Dave Demarest, Jr.
President and CEO of Metropolitan Car-o-liner
You could say that collision repair is in Dave Jr.’s blood. As a young boy of just 11 years old, Dave Sr. introduced Dave Jr. to the new venture he started as a representative of Car-o-liner frame repair system. Over the years Dave Jr. visited the shop whenever he could on weekends and summer vacations. In 1985 Dave Jr. joined the company full-time and became warehouse manager in 1987 at the company’s new office. As manager, Dave incorporated new systems that allowed the growing business to continue its path of expansion and modernization.
A different but related opportunity came to Dave in 1991 when he was offered a position with Autodata Systems, a dealer for Mitchell International selling estimating and shop management software and became President of the company from 1991 through 2005. As understanding and implementing software became instrumental to the rapidly changing collision repair equipment business Dave brought his knowledge and expertise with him when he rejoined Car-o-liner as President in 2006. With Dave Sr.’s retirement in 2022, Dave Jr. became CEO.
Dave Demarest, Sr.
Founder of Metropolitan Car-o-liner
Dave Sr grew up as a body repair technician in New Jersey and later co-owned a collision repair shop that grew to over 10,000 square feet.
As a shop owner looking for innovative, quality repair equipment, in 1978 Dave discovered and began selling a line of frame machines from his body shop.
With his collision shop’s involvement with Volvo of North America, Dave was asked to evaluate a new frame repair bench from Sweden – Car-O-Liner. From that day, Dave began to market the Car-O-Liner frame repair system and its unique and precise universal measuring system to other shops.
To this day, the company Dave Sr. began over 42 years ago continues to be the largest selling Car-O-Liner distributor in the world.
